- Nurses And Switching From RN to BSN Online Programs By:-Donna Cheatwood
Being a nurse is not easy: it requires educational experience as well as various degrees and work experience. This is in addition to the individual's natural talent and inclination to care for the sick. One would first start as an RN and after that the decision is theirs to make if they would want to take an Online Program in RN to BSN that a lot of nursing colleges offer.
The RN to BSN degree that is offered on the Internet is as genuine as those you can take on campus. All the things that one can learn from a traditional school are there in the online one. What will be different is the place where one would be able to learn.
Regarding a traditional school, there is something lacking in them that online schooling has and that is the comfort of the students. It is not a priority that a certain institute has great classrooms and equipment. What's important is the comfort of a person's home.
The nursing student may decide what time of the day he or she can perform the assigned readings, assignments or projects, as long as he or she completes what is required for that day or week. Parents that are studying in this course may want to have a schedule so that everything is fixed even if they have their children to attend to. There are also some who would do everything in the night when there is not much commotion.
With online schooling, a working individual can enjoy studying and also work at the same time. A higher education is necessary if an RN wants to become a BSN, and if a BSN has plans of becoming an MSN. So, we can say that RN is really the first step, but what is it really?
The acronym RN means Registered Nurse. RNs are certified nurses who have all mastered their profession for two or three years of vocational study and have passed the nurse licensure test. The two-year study program is for a degree as Nursing Associate, while the three-year program is for a Nursing Diploma.
The licensure exam is called the NCLEX or National Council Licensure Examination, and this varies from state to state. Becoming an RN will be the result once an individual passes this. However, in hospitals and medical centers in some states, they would still require an RN to continue to have a BSN or a Bachelor's in Nursing degree.
Going from RN to BSN today is easy since there are universities that offer these programs online. RN to BSN programs usually take 2-3 years to complete. BSN programs can also be accelerated and some universities would offer this.
Taking up BSN on campus would take you four years to complete. A BSN in a regular school offers pupils an education system that is far from a Nursing Associate or Nursing Diploma. Because of that, medical centers and hospitals would only employ those with a BSN.
RN to BSN degrees on the Internet would go first, and after that an MSN degree can be taken. Nurses who wish to have a managerial position should pursue a Master's in Nursing or MSN. This program is also offered online.
