The 20th century did not only bombard us with tons of information about the present but also made us travel in a speed of light and be in the other side of the world in a matter of hours. An airplane, under our naked eye, simply functions to transport passengers to their destinations, a vacuum cleaner plainly sucks in even the tiniest lint that even the human vision is incapable of or a gasoline pump silently refills a car tank.

WIth these simplicity lie the intricately combined processes and materials making up the success of every automobile, aircraft and other household and industrial machineries. The success of every project is dependent on the material it is made of, the skills and dedication of the workforce and the thorough planning and implementation. How do these things made of steel and polymerized vinyl compounds affect us and our daily existence? When you wake up in the morning and go to the bathroom, don't you know that your toilet seat is connected to the sewerage system made of ducts, pumps and valves so that you come out of the bathroom clean and satisfied?

Pipework system in a central water heating that keeps us comfortably warm during winter might sound so simple yet behind this, different kinds of pipes of different sizes are interconnected to the radiator and boiler. The bus or car that takes us to work consists of a cooling system wherein a water pump driven by a fan belt or timing belt, pumps coolant from the radiator to the engine and back to the radiator. An AC system that keeps us cool during hot summer needs a blower motor strategically located in the furnace, to allow cool air through a duct system, thereby allowing us a comfortably cool working atmosphere.

During our meal or coffee breaks, what keeps our food and drinks hot or cold depends on the liquified petroleum gas outlet which has a series of connecting ducts and valves so that it will be safely connected to our cooking equipment. Elevators that bring us from the bottom of a building to the topmost floor in a matter of minutes is made up of pulleys and blowers so that going up and down a building is not as tedious as climbing hundreds of stairs. The buildings where we work, the house we call a home, the malls and entertainment area where we recreate stood erect because of the wonderful world of industrial pumps and man's ingenuity.
